Victory for Jules Cluzel - Double Podium for Suter MMX

Jules Cluzel celebrated the first Grand Prix victory of his motorcycle racing career at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone on Sunday, beating Tom Lüthi from Switzerland in a dramatic final lap by five hundredths of a second.

The success of the 21-year-old Frenchman, who was finally rewarded for his efforts after crashing out of the two previous races, and third place of reigning 125 cc World Champion Julian Simon meant a double podium for Suter Racing Technology, the Swiss enterprise supplying prototypes to 13 riders of the Moto2 field.

With local hero Scott Redding in fourth position, Shoya Tomizawa in sixth, Mike di Meglio in seventh and Dominique Aegerter in ninth place, six Suter-MMX bikes dominated the front positions.

“I am very happy for Jules because he really deserved this success”, said Eskil Suter, CEO of Suter Racing Technology. “He crashed in France and in Italy, but his fall two weeks ago at Mugello wasn’t really his fault. It turned out that his engine had a small oil leak and his own oil spill caused the crash. It is very rewarding for him and for all of us that things finally came together and that he now can celebrate his first Grand Prix victory.”

“It is a pity that Shoya Tomizawa had so much trouble with set-up problems and two falls in practice, otherwise he would have battled for another podium finish for sure. But even though, I am more than happy with our team effort. Six of our riders in the top ten positions are a remarkable result, and I am confident that we will be able to continue this way. The next two, three race tracks should also suit out Suter-MMX. At the same time, we are working hard to further improve our bike. We see some potential on the aerodynamics, and we will also introduce new parts on the chassis side very soon.”

“I am also very happy for Tom Lüthi who scored second place on another bike, his best Moto2 finish so far. Congratulations to him and his team – altogether it was a great day for motorsports in Switzerland!”
